Ingredients

  • Raw Banana -3
  • Turmeric powder-1tsp
  • Salt-to taste
  • Oil-3 tsp
  • Mustard seed-1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves-5 to 6
  • Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Garlic-2 pods

How to Make Raw Banana Thoran

  • Peel the raw banana and cut it into very small square pieces. Soak it in 3 cups of water with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder for 5 minutes.
  • Grind the coconut with cumin seeds, garlic and chilli powder coarsely. Keep it aside.
  • Pour 3 tsp oil in a hot griddle, put mustard seeds and allow it to splutter, put the curry leaves.
  • Drain the water from the banana pieces, Add the banana pieces to the griddle, Add the remaining turmeric powder and salt, keep on stirring continuously for 5 to 10 min.
  • Add the coconut mixture to the fried banana, keep on stirring till the water evaporates.
  • Take away from flame. Serve with plain Rice.
