How to Make Raw plantain subzi

  • Boil the plantains (see that they are not over boiled) with salt. Peel the plantains and grate them finely.
  • Sprinkle a bit of salt if required and mix lightly using fingers, carefully without smashing the mixture.
  • In a kadai, heat oil. Add mustard and wait until it splutters. Then add urad dal and curry leaves.
  • Fry the urad dal till slightly brown. Then add finely chopped onions and slit green chillies and fry until transparent.
  • Finally add the grated plantain and keep stirring for 2-3 minutes (not more than that). Then remove kadai from flame and then add grated coconut and mix well.
  • Serve hot as a side dish garnished with coriander leaves.
