Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 - plantains
  • 1/2 - grated Coconut (medium sized)
  • 1 - finely chopped onion| 3-4 - slit Green chillies
  • as required - salt
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • How to Make Raw plantain subzi:

    1. Boil the plantains (see that they are not over boiled) with salt. Peel the plantains and grate them finely.
    2. Sprinkle a bit of salt if required and mix lightly using fingers, carefully without smashing the mixture.
    3. In a kadai, heat oil. Add mustard and wait until it splutters. Then add urad dal and curry leaves.
    4. Fry the urad dal till slightly brown. Then add finely chopped onions and slit green chillies and fry until transparent.
    5. Finally add the grated plantain and keep stirring for 2-3 minutes (not more than that). Then remove kadai from flame and then add grated coconut and mix well.
    6. Serve hot as a side dish garnished with coriander leaves.
