  • 1 cup - whole wheat rawa
  • 1/2 cup - green gram (moong) dal, washed and drained
  • 4 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper corns, crushed
  • a pinch - asafoetida (hing)
  • 4 cups - water
  • 1/2 tsp - salt

How to Make Rawa Milagu Pongal

  • Place the rawa and dal in a deep non-stick pan.
  • Heat oil in a small seasoning ladle and add cumin, pepper and asafoetida.
  • Fry for 15-20 seconds and add to the rawa.
  • Add water and salt. Bring to a boil.
  • Cover and leave on a low flame till the rawa and dal are cooked.
  • Serve hot with mint or tomato chutney.
