  • 2 cups - Red Rice flour (roasted)
  • 1 tbsp - Oil
  • Salt
  • 1 cup - Water
  • Sugar (as per need)
  • 1 cup - Grated Coconut
  • Cardamom powder (optional)
  • How to Make Red Rice String Hopper - Idiyappam:

    1. Bring to boil the water with a pinch of salt and oil, gradually add the roasted red rice flour and cook until the dough gets off from the vessel. Keep aside and let it cool completely.
    2. Grease the murukku press and take the string hoppers nozzle.
    3. Take some dough, drop it into the presser and press gently over a greased plate.
    4. Steam cook for 10 minutes and transfer the cooked string hoppers to a bowl. Continue the same process with the remaining dough.
    5. Immediately add the sugar, cardamom powder and enough grated coconut and mix everything well.
