  • 2 cups - Rice
  • 1/4 cup - Urad Dal
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • A pinch of soda bicarb
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Rice Crisps:

    1. Soak the rice in water for 2 hours.
    2. Drain and pound it to a fine powder.
    3. Roast urad dal and powder.
    4. Mix both rice flour and dal powder, add sesame seeds, asafoetida, soda bicarb and salt.
    5. Add oil and roll into a soft dough with water.
    6. Press batches of this dough through a murukku mould and deep fry in an oil till crisp.
    7. Drain and store in an airtight tin.
