Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups - all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup - shortening
  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - milk
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • For nutty layer:
  • 2 tbsp - Flour
  • 2 tbsp - melted butter
  • 1/2 cup - brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup - chopped walnuts
  • 1.5 tsps - cinnamon powder

How to Make Rich Nutty Muffins

  • For Batter:
  • Sift flour into a bowl and add shortening, and mix till the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  • Lightly beat eggs and blend with milk.
  • Add to flour mixture and stir until moistened.
  • For Nutty Layer:
  • Combine flour, butter, brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon powder.
  • In greased muffin pans spoon alternate layers of batter and nutty mixture until pans are 2/3 full.
  • Bake in a moderate oven at 190 degree Celsius for 20 mins.
