Ingredients

  • 1 kg - ruhi fish
  • 3 - Bay Leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder -1 tsp
  • 1 tsp - sugar, for caramelising
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin
  • 200 g - Mustard oil
  • 100 g - beaten Curd
  • To grind into paste:
  • 1 - onion, large
  • 1 - Garlic
  • 1 piece - Ginger
  • 5-6 - Red Chillies
  • Whole Garam Masala - grind to paste
  • 2 - Cardamom
  • 2 - long Cinnamon
  • 2 - Cloves
  • How to Make Ruhi Macher Kalia:

    1. Clean, wash, drain and marinate the fleshy pieces with salt and turmeric and keep aside
    2. Heat oil in non stick kadai and shallow fry the fish.
    3. Pour the remaining oil in the kadai and put the sugar for caramelizing
    4. Put bay leaves and cumin to crackle in oil
    5. Add ground paste and garam paste with salt and turmeric in the oil.
    6. After the oil separates from the masala pour the beaten curd and boil
    7. Add fish pieces, simmer for few minutes.
    8. Serve.
