  • 2 - Carrots
  • 1 - Potato
  • One bunch of beans and
  • 1/2 cup shelled peas
  • Grind the following to a paste:
  • 2 tsp Jeera
  • 1/2 cup wet Coconut
  • 4 Green chillies or as per taste
  • Handful of pudina (mint leaves)
  • 1 tsp Khus Khus and
  • one inch stick of Cinnamon
  • How to Make Saagu:

    1. In a pressure cooker, cook the vegetables with salt and a little turmeric powder for one whistle.
    2. Do not add too much water to cook the vegetables.
    3. Take a little oil in a kadai. Season it with some mustard seeds.
    4. Add the cooked vegetables and the ground paste.
    5. Allow the whole mixture to boil at a low heat till you get the required consistency of a liquid curry.
    6. Serve hot with puris, chapattis or phulkas.
