  • Sago - 2 cups
  • Mashed potato - 2 cups
  • Coarsely powdered peanuts - 1.5 cups
  • Rice flour - 1tbsp
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 4
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • salt to taste
  • oil to fry.

How to Make Sago Murukku

  • Soak sago for half an hour. Drain and keep aside.
  • Grind the chillies with cumin seeds, turmeric powder and asafoetida.
  • Add mashed potatoes and peanuts and keep aside.
  • Add rice flour, sago, salt and sesame seeds and knead into a dough.
  • Place dough in a "Murukku achu" press and press out rounds in to hot oil.
  • Fry till golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve hot.
