How to Make Sambhar for Idlis

  • Pressure cook the dhal and keep separately.
  • Grind 1 onion + 1 tomato + garlic in mixer and keep separately.
  • Take 4 glasses of water and extract tamarind juice.
  • Add sambhar powder and the remaining onions and tomato to it. Allow it to boil well
  • Once it starts boiling, add the cooked dhal to it.
  • Once this starts boiling add the onion, tomato, garlic paste to it.
  • Add salt to taste and asafoetida to it and leave it for sometime.
  • Heat 3 tsps of ghee in a pan, add mustard to it and allow it to splutter.
  • Add this to the sambhar and garnish with coriander leaves.
