Ingredients

  • 1 kg - sugar
  • 250 gm - soft sandalwood shavings
  • 1 litre - water
  • 4 drops - kewra essence
  • 1/2 tsp - citric acid.

How to Make Sandalwood Drink

  • Soak sandalwood shavings in water in a large vessel. Cover and leave overnight.
  • Strain shavings through a muslin cloth, saving water.
  • Keep water undisturbed for half an hour.
  • Transfer the water carefully into a deep vessel, retaining the sediments.
  • Add sugar, heat, stirring gently.
  • When it comes to a boil, reduce heat simmer for 15 mins.
  • Take off fire, wait for 5-7 minutes, stir in kewra essence and citric acid.
  • Bottle when fully cooled to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate and use as required.
  • To Use:
  • Add 2-3 tbsp. of syrup to 250 ml. chilled water.
  • Stir and serve cold.
