  • 1 kg - sardines
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - garlic paste
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 3 onions, sliced finely

How to Make Sardines In Tomato Gravy

  • Wash the sardines and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions for a few minutes.
  • Add the garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and fry for a few minutes.
  • Add the tomato puree and mix well.
  • Saute for a few minutes.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and bring to boil.
  • Drop in the sardines and mix well.
  • Simmer on low heat for about 8 to 10 minutes till the sardines are soft.
  • Serve with bread or chapattis.
