Ingredients

  • 1 bunch - sarson (mustard) greens
  • 1 bunch - spinach
  • 1 onion (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp - garlic (grated)
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - grated cheese or paneer (optional)
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala
  • 1 tbsp - maize flour

How to Make Sarson Saag

  • Chop the greens, wash and drain.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add the greens, along with the green chillies, and stir well.
  • Add the ginger and garlic, and stir.
  • Add a few pinches of salt along with 1 cup of water.
  • Pressure cook till done (2 whistles). Mash well.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add the onion, saute till brown.
  • Add all the other ingredients, except the cheese.
  • Stir well and cook till oil separates.
  • Garnish with cheese.
