Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 2 cups
  • 1 - onion finely chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Til - 1 tsp
  • Channa Dal, soaked in water - 3 tsps
  • Green chilli paste - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Oil

How to Make Sarvapindi

  • Soak rice in water for 1.5 hours and drain the excess water. Let the rice dry for a while, so that there is no water content left.
  • Grind the rice coarsely in a mixie (to look like rava).
  • Cut green chillies and red chillies.
  • Take a kadai, heat some oil, add mustard, urud dal, and the red chillies.
  • Once the mustard splutters, add the green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add 2 to 3 cups of water, salt to taste and some perungayam powder. Let the water boil.
  • Once it boils, add the rice flour and mix thoroughly.
  • Cook on low heat 10 minutes. Remove from heat and cool a little.
  • Take a steamer and oil it. Then make small balls with the dough and steam them for 15 minutes.
  • Serve with coconut chutney.
