Ingredients

  • 2 cups - semiya (vermicelli)
  • 1/2 inch - ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-7 pods - garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup - beans, carrot, potato, chopped
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 4-5 tsp - oil
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • few Curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Semiya khichadi:

    1. In a kadai, heat oil and add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
    2. Then add onion and saute.
    3. Add ginger and garlic and saute.
    4. Then add vegetables, curry leaves and saute for few seconds.
    5. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and saute.
    6. Add 4 cups of water and allow it to boil.
    7. Add vermicelli and stir.
    8. Cover it with a lid and cook for 5 mins on a low flame.
    9. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
