Ingredients

  • 2 cups - semiya (vermicelli)
  • 1/2 inch - ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-7 pods - garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup - beans, carrot, potato, chopped
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 4-5 tsp - oil
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • few Curry leaves
  • salt to taste

How to Make Semiya khichadi

  • In a kadai, heat oil and add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  • Then add onion and saute.
  • Add ginger and garlic and saute.
  • Then add vegetables, curry leaves and saute for few seconds.
  • Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and saute.
  • Add 4 cups of water and allow it to boil.
  • Add vermicelli and stir.
  • Cover it with a lid and cook for 5 mins on a low flame.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
