Ingredients

  • Milk - 3 cups
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Vermicelli - 100 g
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Ghee -2 tsp
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Saffron strands - a few
  • Cashew nut - 12
  • Raisins - 12
  • How to Make Semiya payasam (vermicelli):

    1. Heat a pan and add 1 tsp of ghee to it.
    2. Fry raisins, cashew nuts and vermicelli separately and keep aside.
    3. Boil milk and water in a vessel.
    4. Stir it frequently.
    5. Add sugar and cardamom to it.
    6. Continue stirring. Bring it to a boil.
    7. Now add vermicelli and stir at regular intervals till the vermicelli turns soft.
    8. Remove it from the stove and keep the lid closed for 30 mins.
    9. Now garnish it with cashew, raisins and saffron.
