Ingredients

  • Milk - 3 cups
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Vermicelli - 100 g
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Ghee -2 tsp
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Saffron strands - a few
  • Cashew nut - 12
  • Raisins - 12

How to Make Semiya payasam (vermicelli)

  • Heat a pan and add 1 tsp of ghee to it.
  • Fry raisins, cashew nuts and vermicelli separately and keep aside.
  • Boil milk and water in a vessel.
  • Stir it frequently.
  • Add sugar and cardamom to it.
  • Continue stirring. Bring it to a boil.
  • Now add vermicelli and stir at regular intervals till the vermicelli turns soft.
  • Remove it from the stove and keep the lid closed for 30 mins.
  • Now garnish it with cashew, raisins and saffron.
