Ingredients

  • 2 cups - vermicelli
  • 1 cup - green gram dal
  • 3 cups - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - Ghee
  • 4 - Cardamoms
  • few cashews and Raisins
  • How to Make Semiya pongal:

    1. Fry cashewnuts and raisins in ghee and keep it aside.
    2. In the same pan, fry semiya and put it aside.
    3. Fry green gram dal using little ghee. Then add water and cook it. Keep it aside.
    4. Boil 4 cups of water, add semiya to it and cook.
    5. Add sugar, cooked green gram dal, remaining ghee and cook for 5 mins on medium heat.
    6. Remove from the stove, add fried cashews, raisins and crushed cardamoms.
