  • 1 cup - Vermicelli/Semiya
  • 1.5 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - Milk
  • 1.5 cup - Water
  • 1 pod - Cardamom, crushed
  • 7-8 tsp - Ghee
  • 25-30 - Broken Cashews
  • 30-35 - Raisins

How to Make Semiya Sheera - Vermicelli Sheera- Halwa

  • In a deep bottom pan add 2 tsp ghee.
  • When hot add broken cashews and saute till golden.
  • Once done and to same hot ghee add raisins.
  • Saute till they turn round and plump.
  • Remove them and let them cool.
  • To the same pan add 1 tsp more of ghee and add vermicelli to it.
  • Roast till they turn to light golden pink in colour.
  • Then pour water and mix well.
  • Now add milk and let it cook with occasional stirring.
  • Once it is cooked fully add sugar and mix well.
  • Once the liquid content evaporates, start adding remaining ghee teaspoon by teaspoon in a gap of 2-3 minutes and keep mixing.
  • Do not mix vigorously as semiya will tend to break.
  • Add crushed cardamom.
  • When the mixture tends to leave the pan, add the fried dry fruits like cashews and raisins.
  • Mix well and let it cook for another 1-2 mins on low.
  • Your semiya sheera is ready to go.
