  • 1 cup - Vermicelli/Semiya
  • 1.5 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - Milk
  • 1.5 cup - Water
  • 1 pod - Cardamom, crushed
  • 7-8 tsp - Ghee
  • 25-30 - Broken Cashews
  • 30-35 - Raisins
  • How to Make Semiya Sheera - Vermicelli Sheera- Halwa:

    1. In a deep bottom pan add 2 tsp ghee.
    2. When hot add broken cashews and saute till golden.
    3. Once done and to same hot ghee add raisins.
    4. Saute till they turn round and plump.
    5. Remove them and let them cool.
    6. To the same pan add 1 tsp more of ghee and add vermicelli to it.
    7. Roast till they turn to light golden pink in colour.
    8. Then pour water and mix well.
    9. Now add milk and let it cook with occasional stirring.
    10. Once it is cooked fully add sugar and mix well.
    11. Once the liquid content evaporates, start adding remaining ghee teaspoon by teaspoon in a gap of 2-3 minutes and keep mixing.
    12. Do not mix vigorously as semiya will tend to break.
    13. Add crushed cardamom.
    14. When the mixture tends to leave the pan, add the fried dry fruits like cashews and raisins.
    15. Mix well and let it cook for another 1-2 mins on low.
    16. Your semiya sheera is ready to go.
