  • Semiya -2 cups
  • Ghee/oil- 2 tbsp
  • Grated Coconut -1/4 cup
  • Green chilli 7
  • Mustard- 1 tsp
  • urad Dal- 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Water about 1.5 cup
  • Salt for taste
  • How to Make Semiya Upma:

    1. Fry semiya in little butter or oil for little while. Take it out and keep separate.
    2. In a vessel, add little oil. When oil is hot add the mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
    3. Add the green chillies, cut lengthwise (if you like more spice, add more green chillies).
    4. Add water and let it boil (the quantity of water could be changed depending on the type of semiya you use).
    5. Add the semiya to the water and let it cook. Add salt as well.
    6. Once the semiya is almost cooked, add the coconut.
    7. Remove after 3-4 mins. You can garnish the upma with coriander leaves.
