Ingredients

  • For Cake:
  • fine semolina (chiroti rava) - 1.5 cup
  • Butter - ½ cup
  • powdered Sugar - ½ cup
  • powdered Cashew nuts - ½ cup
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • eggs - 2
  • Almond essence - few drops
  • Orange juice - 5 tbsp
  • Orange rind - 2 tbsp
  • For Syrup:
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • water - 150 ml
  • Cinnamon powder - ½ tsp
  • Orange juice - 150 ml
  • Lime juice - 2 tbsp
  • How to Make Semolina Cake:

    1. Cream butter and sugar.
    2. Beat in orange rind and juice.
    3. Beat in the eggs and essence.
    4. Add semolina, cashew powder, and baking powder. Stir to mix.
    5. Place in greased deep ring mould and bake at 220 degrees centigrade for 10 mins.
    6. Reduce temperature to 180 degrees centigrade and bake till done (25 mins approx.).
    7. Meanwhile, prepare the syrup.
    8. When the cake is done, allow to cool in tin for 10 mins.
    9. Invert on to a plate.
    10. When it is warm, pour the syrup over it.
