Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - yam
  • Coriander leaves - a few sprigs
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup - toor dal
  • 4 - green chilli
  • 2 - lemon
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - urad dal.

How to Make Senai Masiyal

  • Chop the green chillies and keep aside
  • Finely chop the senai, pressure cook the senai and mash it well and keep aside
  • Pressure cook the toor dal and mash it well
  • Mix the cooked and mashed senai along with toor dal
  • To this add salt, turmeric powder and boil
  • In a separate pan, add oil, splutter mustard seeds, add urad dal and fry it till it becomes golden colour
  • To this add chopped green chilli and fry it and remove from flame and add it to the boiling senai masiyal and mix it well
  • Remove from flame and when the senai masiyal cools add lemon extract and mix it well
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
