How to Make Sesame Seeds (Yellu) Kuzhambu

  • Soak the tamarind in water and extract the juice and keep it aside.
  • Fry the coconut in flame directly till it turns golden brown colour.
  • Dry fry the Yellu (Sesame Seeds) in a pan till it starts to sputter and add this to mixer.
  • Pour some oil in pan and fry the red chilli and the dals and fry it till the dal turns golden brown colour.
  • Add these to mixer and grind it to a paste.
  • Heat the pan and add oil.
  • To this add mustard seeds and when the mustard seeds starts to sputter, add tamarind juice extract.
  • To this add salt and allow the tamarind mixture to boil till raw smell goes off.
  • Now add the ground Yellu (Sesame Seeds) mixture and allow the kuzhambu to boil.
  • The Yellu (Sesame Seeds) kuzhambu is ready to serve with rice.
