  • 3 tbsp - Black Yellu (sesame seeds):
  • 5 - Red Chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Toor Dal
  • 1 tbsp - Urad Dal
  • 5 - chopped big size Coconut
  • 1 - small Lemon size Tamarind
  • Salt to taste
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • How to Make Sesame Seeds (Yellu) Kuzhambu:

    1. Soak the tamarind in water and extract the juice and keep it aside.
    2. Fry the coconut in flame directly till it turns golden brown colour.
    3. Dry fry the Yellu (Sesame Seeds) in a pan till it starts to sputter and add this to mixer.
    4. Pour some oil in pan and fry the red chilli and the dals and fry it till the dal turns golden brown colour.
    5. Add these to mixer and grind it to a paste.
    6. Heat the pan and add oil.
    7. To this add mustard seeds and when the mustard seeds starts to sputter, add tamarind juice extract.
    8. To this add salt and allow the tamarind mixture to boil till raw smell goes off.
    9. Now add the ground Yellu (Sesame Seeds) mixture and allow the kuzhambu to boil.
    10. The Yellu (Sesame Seeds) kuzhambu is ready to serve with rice.
