  • 1 cup - pureed Tomatoes
  • Red Chillies to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 6 - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - garlic, ginger, Green chillies (paste)
  • 1 cup - gram flour
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 tsp - Fenugreek seeds
  • 4 tbsp - oil
  • Couple of sprigs of coriander (fresh)
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Sev Shak:

    1. Heat the oil in a pan.
    2. Add the mustard seeds, fenugreek seed and hing.
    3. Stir in the ginger-garlic-chilli paste together with the turmeric powder.
    4. Add curry leaves and then the tomatoes.
    5. Add salt to taste and the sugar too.
    6. Let it cook till the oil seeps through. Boil well and then add 2 cups of boiling water.
    7. Make a dough of the gram flour (season to taste) and insert in a sev machine and pipe into the boiling tomato soup.
    8. Cover and cook for 10 mins. Garnish with coriander.
