Ingredients

  • 150 g - Rice
  • Oil for cooking
  • 2 to 3 pieces - red whole chilli and Cardamom
  • 1 cup - Coriander leaves
  • 50 g - Tuvar dal
  • 50 g - Channa dal
  • 50 g - whole moong dal
  • 50 g - whole masoor dal
  • 50 g - Carrot
  • 50 g - Potatoes
  • 50 g - peas
  • 50 g - Cauliflower
  • 50 g - French beans
  • 1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 - tomato, chopped
  • 1 tbsp - mix of raisins, cashews, Almonds
  • 1 tsp - mix of whole masala (black pepper, Cinnamon stick, clove)
  • How to Make Shahi Khichdi:

    1. Cut and wash all the vegetables.
    2. Mix all the dals, rice and wash it.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, whole masala mix, whole red chilli and cardamom.
    4. When they start spluttering, add onions and fry till golden brown.
    5. Add tomatoes and cook.
    6. Then add the dal mix, rice, vegetables, and the remaining masalas.
    7. Add two glasses of water and let it cook.
    8. Serve hot.
