Ingredients

  • minced mutton - ½ kg
  • besan (chick peas flour) - 1 tbsp
  • egg - 1 small, lightly beatensalt - ½ tsp
  • chopped onion - ½ cup
  • ginger - 1 tsp, chopped
  • green chilies - 2
  • coriander leaves - ½ cup, chopped
  • black pepper powder - ½ tsp
  • chili powder - ½ tsp
  • coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • onion - ½ cup, thinly sliced
  • curd - ½ cupoil to deep fry
  • salt to taste

How to Make Shahi Kofta Curry

  • Mix minced mutton with 1.5 tsp salt, besan and egg.
  • Form into 2 cm round balls and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  • Drain and reserve.
  • Grind chopped onion, ginger, green chili and coriander leaves to a paste.
  • Mix in all the powders.
  • Heat 3 Tbsp of the oil in which koftas were fried.
  • Add sliced onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the ground paste and fry till fragrant.
  • Add curd, a tbsp at a time, frying well after each addition.
  • Add koftas and about 1.5-3/4 cup of water.
  • Simmer gently for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or parathas.
