Ingredients

  • 250 g - cottage cheese
  • 1 cup - peas (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 - onion, medium
  • 1/2 cup - tomato sauce
  • 1/2 inch - ginger
  • 2-3 pods - garlic
  • 2 tsp - cream fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup - curd
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp -garam masala
  • salt to taste.
  • 2-3 tsp - oil

How to Make Shahi Matar Paneer

  • You can either make cottage cheese at home by cuddling milk with white vinegar or get ready made cottage cheese.
  • In a blender, make a fine paste of onions, ginger, garlic. Heat a wok and add oil to it.
  • When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Now add the above paste.
  • And fry till golden brown and oil starts to leave the sides of wok.
  • Add tomato paste and fry again till the oil leaves the sides of the wok.
  • To this, add the chilli powder, coriander powder, haldi, garam masala and fry for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add curd and keep stirring continuously till it blends well.
  • Don't leave stirring otherwise the curd will coagulate.
  • Finally, add the cream and stir well.
  • Add about 1 cup water, let it come to boil and add peas to it.
  • Cover it and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the pre-cut paneer pieces and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with a little bit of cream and chopped cilantro.
  • Serve hot with chapattis or pulao or puri.
