  • For Masala:
  • 100 gm - poppy seeds
  • 50 gm - fresh grated coconut
  • 2 - Onion, medium size (ground to a paste)
  • 2 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • Red chilli powder, according to taste
  • 3/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 2 - medium tomatoes finely chopped
  • Green coriander
  • 2 - green chilli, slit
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Butter and green coriander for garnish
  • Chopped vegetables or meat - 2 cups

How to Make Shahi Subzi

  • Soak poppy seeds overnight, strain and make paste by adding coconut.
  • Take sauce pan or kadai, add oil, ginger-garlic along with onion paste and fry till golden brown.
  • Now add all the sukha masala i.e., salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, dhania powder, and stir till it mixes well.
  • Simmer the gas, add to it the poppy seed coconut paste and stir it till you see the oil separated from the masala.
  • Add tomatoes, green coriander and green chillies, and mix it to the masala well.
  • Add water as per you requirement and vegetables to it.
  • Garnish with green coriander and serve.
