Ingredients

  • 6 brown bread slices
  • 1 liter - low fat Milk
  • 16 Almonds
  • 2 tsp - Chironji
  • 1/2 tsp - cardomom powder
  • 8 sachets of Sugar free powder (preferably sucralose)
  • few strands of Saffron

How to Make Shahi tukda for dieters and diabetics

  • Toast the bread slices, cut diagonally into triangles, on a non-stick tawa and keep aside.
  • Soak 10 almonds in hot water for an hour, peel and grind to a paste. Keep aside.
  • Boil milk till it is reduced by half (under a low heat). Add elachi powder, almond paste, sugar-free powder and simmer the milk for another 2 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Sprinkle saffron dissolved in a tsp of milk and remove from the heat.
  • Arrange the bread pieces in a plate and pour the prepared mixture over them. Decorate with remaining almonds slivers and chironji.
  • Let it cool and soak for 15 minutes. Serve chilled.
