Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Shallots (sambar vengayam)
  • 2 - Red chillies
  • 1 - Green chillies
  • 1 - Tamarind (blueberry size)
  • 1 tsp - Urad dal
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp - Oil

How to Make Shallot Chutney

  • Heat oil a pan add the urad dal and red chillies as well as green chilly in hot oil and fry them until they turn brown.
  • Add the shallots to the oil and stir them continuously until they turn translucent, add the blue berry size tamarind to the hot vegetables and turn off the stove.
  • Keep it aside and let them cool.
  • Grind them finely in a mixie with enough salt and without water and serve.
