How to Make Shark Hash Kuzhambu - Sura Puttu Kuzhambu

  • Fry and grind all the ingredients from the grind list without adding oil.
  • Grind them to a fine powder, soak the tamarind in hot water and form a thick tamarind juice.
  • Chop the fish into small pieces (don't cook them in hot water as we do for making hash).
  • Heat oil in a pan, add the pearl onions n fry them until they turn golden brown, add tomatoes, garlic pods, green chilly pieces, curry leaves and fry it for a while.
  • Now add the ground powder as per your need to the vegetables and cook in a low flame for a while.
  • Add the fish pieces and salt, fry them until the colour of the fish changes, increase the flame, add the tamarind juice with turmeric powder, boil them for a minute.
  • Add the coconut milk to the gravy, once the oil separates, turn off the stove.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with papads or else with boiled eggs.
  • Can also prepare them with king fish pieces too.
