Ingredients

  • 12 to 15 - tender silverbeet stalks
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 1 or 2 flakes - garlic, crushed
  • 2 - green chillies, slit vertically
  • 1 tbsp - Corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp - crushed mixed herbs, dried
  • 1 tbsp - Olive oil
  • Few granules Sugar
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Silver Beet Vegetable Stew:

    1. Chop stalks finely, chop greens coarsely.
    2. Wash and drain greens.
    3. Dissolve corn flour in 1/4 cup water, keep aside.
    4. Heat oil in a pan, add onions, garlic, stir-fry till soft and pink.
    5. Add green chillies, stir-fry for a minute.
    6. Add chopped greens, sugar, salt, cover and cook for 2-3 mins.
    7. Take off lid, add corn flour paste, mix well and bring to a boil.
    8. Add crushed herbs, stir, take off fire.
    9. Serve hot with either steamed rice, white pulao or puries.
