  • 500 g - fish, cut into ½ inch darnes
  • To be ground to paste:
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 tbsp - ginger, chopped
  • 1 tbsp - garlic, chopped
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli paste
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 8 tbsp - Mustard oil for shallow frying
  • salt to taste

How to Make Simple Fried Masala Fish

  • Wash and pat dry the fish.
  • Rub the paste well on both sides of the fish and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Heat the oil in a shallow frying pan.
  • When it starts smoking and changes color, remove oil from heat and let it cool for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Return the pan to heat, and fry the fish on both sides, in batches, till cooked and crisp.
