Ingredients

  • Basmati Rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Spices - 4 each (cinnamon, clove, cardamom)
  • Onion - 1 large, finely sliced
  • Ghee - 50 g
  • Oil - for deep frying the Onion
  • Cashews - 10
  • Raisins - 10
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Simple Ghee Rice

  • Heat oil in a kadai and saute the cashews and the raisins. Fry the onions separately and keep aside.
  • In the meanwhile, soak rice for 1/2 hour.
  • In a vessel, cook rice with the salt, spices and water.
  • When the rice is 3/4 done, pour ghee over the rice, cover and cook for 10-15 mins.
  • Let it cool.
  • Garnish with fried cashews, raisins and onion.
  • Serve hot with any spicy chicken or mutton curry and pappodoms.
