Ingredients

  • Tamarind - 1 big amla sized
  • Tomato - 1 big, sliced
  • Dhaniya seeds- 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chillies - 2 or 3
  • Thoor dal - 1 to 1.5 tsp
  • Ginger - 1 big piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves and cilantro
  • Ghee to season mustard seeds

How to Make Simple Ginger Rasam

  • Soak the ingredients except tamarind and tomato for 15 to 30 minutes and grind it.
  • Meanwhile, boil 2 cups of water with tamarind, tomato and salt.
  • After tomato is cooked add the ground ingredients along with some more water and let it boil for 15 minutes.
  • After it is done, season mustard seeds with 1 tsp of ghee and add to the rasam.
  • Garnish with curry leaves and cilantro.
