  • Moong dal- 100 g, fried
  • Red chillies - 5
  • Salt to taste
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Tamarind - 1 small piece
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves- 2 -3 sprigs
  • Dhania seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Onion - 1 small sized.

How to Make Simple Moong Dal Chutney

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the mustard seeds, dhania, red chillies, asafoetida, then add salt and the curry leaves.
  • Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup hot water.
  • Now grind the fried mixture in a mixie. Grind until coarse.
  • Now add the fried moong dal, garlic, tamarind and grind again adding a little water.
  • The moong dal should also be coarsely ground.
  • Now chop the onion into small pieces.
  • Add to the chutney and mix thoroughly. The onion should remain a little coarse.
