  • 5 medium sized Pomfrets
  • 1 tbsp - oil (for roasting the masala)
  • 2 medium sized Onions (chopped)
  • 10 to 12 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
  • 10 to 12 Curry leaves
  • 10 pepper Corns
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 2.5 tsp - coriander powder
  • ½ tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tbsp - Tamarind juice
  • 7 to 8 tbsp - oil for frying the fish
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Simple n Plain Fried Fish:

    1. Clean and wash the fish thoroughly. Make 2 thick slices of each pomfret.
    2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry chopped onions, garlic, curry leaves and peppercorns on a low flame till you get an aroma.
    3. Cool and grind to a fine paste by adding a little water.
    4. To the ground paste add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and tamarind juice. Mix well.
    5. Marinate the fish pieces in this masala for a couple of hours.
    6. Heat oil in a non-stick pan or a tawa and fry the fish on both sides on a medium flame till golden in colour.
