Ingredients

  • 2 - 4 tsp-pepper powder (approx.).
  • 1.5 cups-toor dal (cooked).
  • 1 tsp- Brown sugar or jaggery.
  • salt.
  • 1 tsp each- Mustard Seeds and jeera.
  • 1 tsp- Tamarind paste.

How to Make Simple pepper Rasam

  • Heat a tbsp of oil in a vessel and add mustard and jeera to it. When the mustard seeds start to crackle, add the toor dal and some water.
  • Now make a paste of tamarind, pepper powder and salt with a little hot water.
  • Add it to the tuvar dal and stir well.
  • Now, add the brown sugar, chopped cilantro and boil well.
  • Also, if desired add lime juice.
  • Drink as soup or mix with plain rice.
