On a cold, rainy evening, what better to settle down in front of the rain with but some tea and a simple yet deliciously crunchy potato fry? This amazingly simple recipe is loved by adults and kids alike and can be had with tomato ketchup or any dip and makes for a great starter idea to be served during a dinner party as well.

To make Potato Fry, boil about 300-350 g of potato in salted water for at least 4-5 minutes until it becomes tender enough. Drain the potatoes from the water and keep them aside.
Next, heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida, cumin, crushed garlic cloves, curry leaves, and turmeric powder and fry them for a minute. Next, add the chopped potato pieces and fry them until they take on a beautiful golden-brown colour.

After that, drain them and sprinkle them with pepper powder or red chilli powder, and toss and cook them on a low flame for around 1 to 2 minutes. Finally, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and relish them potato fry.

How to Make Simple potato fry

  • Boil potato in salted water for 3 to 4 min till it is just tender; drain and keep aside.
  • Heat oil, add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves, crushed garlic cloves and cumin and fry for a min.
  • Add the chopped potato and fry them till crisp and golden brown in colour.
  • Sprinkle red chilli powder/pepper powder, toss and cook on low flame for 1 to 2 mins.
  • Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves, stir and remove.
