  • Potatoes -4, medium-sized, (boiled and mashed)
  • Cumin seeds and powder -1 tsp each
  • Coriander seeds and powder -1 tsp each
  • Chilli powder-4 tsp
  • Green chillies- 4, chopped finely
  • Curry leaves - 1 string
  • Turmeric powder- 2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds -1 tsp
  • Oil for Deep Frieding
  • Chickpea flour (besan)- 250 g
  • Onions, chopped -1 cup
  • Coriander leaves - 1 small bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice -2 tsp
  • Garam masala-4 tsp
  • How to Make Simple Quick Batata Vada:

    1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
    2. Add green chillies, curry leaves and turmeric powder.
    3. Add the remaining ingredients (except the coriander leaves and potatoes) and saute.
    4. Add potatoes and salt and saute for 2-3 mins.
    5. Let it cool.
    6. Add the coriander and make small balls of the mixture. Keep aside.
    7. Mix the besan with water and a pinch of salt to make a thin batter. Keep aside.
    8. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
    9. Now dip the potato masala balls into the batter and Deep Fried till golden.
    10. Serve with green chutney or fried green chillies.
