  • Potatoes -4, medium-sized, (boiled and mashed)
  • Cumin seeds and powder -1 tsp each
  • Coriander seeds and powder -1 tsp each
  • Chilli powder-4 tsp
  • Green chillies- 4, chopped finely
  • Curry leaves - 1 string
  • Turmeric powder- 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  • Oil for Deep Frieding
  • Chickpea flour (besan)- 250 g
  • Onions, chopped -1 cup
  • Coriander leaves - 1 small bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice -2 tsp
  • Garam masala-4 tsp

How to Make Simple Quick Batata Vada

  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
  • Add green chillies, curry leaves and turmeric powder.
  • Add the remaining ingredients (except the coriander leaves and potatoes) and saute.
  • Add potatoes and salt and saute for 2-3 mins.
  • Let it cool.
  • Add the coriander and make small balls of the mixture. Keep aside.
  • Mix the besan with water and a pinch of salt to make a thin batter. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  • Now dip the potato masala balls into the batter and Deep Fried till golden.
  • Serve with green chutney or fried green chillies.
