Ingredients

  • Sago - 2 cups
  • Mashed Potato - 2 cups
  • Coarsely powdered Peanuts - 1.5 cups
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 4
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry
  • How to Make Simple Sago Murukku:

    1. Soak sago for half an hour. Drain and keep aside.
    2. Grind the chillies with cumin seeds, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Add mashed potatoes and peanuts, remove.
    3. Add rice flour, sago, salt and sesame seeds.
    4. Knead dough well.
    5. Place dough in a 'murukku achu' and press out in rounds into hot oil. Fry till golden brown and crisp.
    6. Serve hot.
