How to Make Sizzling Spinach Dal

  • Pressure cook dal separately by adding adequate water. Keep aside.
  • Wash spinach leaves and chop them.
  • Chop onions and green chillies.
  • Soak the tamarind in water for some time and squeeze the pulp (do not make thick paste).
  • Now mix all the above (except dal) adding curry leaves, turmeric powder and sambhar powder. Boil it till the spinach leaves and the onions are cooked well.
  • Once spinach and onions are cooked. Add dal and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, jeera red chillies and hing.
  • After the mustard seeds splutter, add this spinach and dal mixture.
  • Serve with rice and rotis.
