Ingredients

  • Buttermilk (Chaas) - 1 cup
  • Flaked, beaten rice (Poha/Chiwda) - 1/4 cup
  • Par boiled rice - 2 cups
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp - baking soda
  • 1 tbsp - oil

How to Make Sizzling Sponge Dosa

  • Wash 2 cups par boiled rice & 1/4 cup rice flakes (poha or aval) separately. Soak them together in 3-4 cups buttermilk for 10-12 hrs.
  • Next day, grind to a fine smooth paste with 2 tsp salt.
  • Add 1/4 tsp baking soda just before preparing dosa.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa, pour the batter to form a thick dosa.
  • Put little ghee or oil around and close with a lid.
  • Cook over medium flame for a few minutes till there is no raw batter on top of dosa.
  • Do not turn around as it looses its spongy texture.
  • Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
