Ingredients

  • 2 - medium size firm tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup - soft jaggery (or 1/2 cup powdered sugar)
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 or 2 - bay leaves
  • 1 - small cinnamon stick
  • 3 to 4 - cashew nuts, crushed
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 cup - water
  • 1 tsp - salt

How to Make Sizzling Sweet Tomato Chutney

  • Chop the tomatoes and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaves and cinnamon stick. Let them splutter.
  • Now add the chopped tomatoes, salt, chilli powder and saute for some time.
  • Add water and jaggery/sugar and cook till the tomatoes become soft and the chutney becomes thick in consistency.
  • Take from fire, add the crushed cashewnuts and serve.
