Ingredients

  • 500 g - paneer
  • 3 cups - tomato puree (diluted with 3 cups water)
  • 1/2 cup - ghee
  • 2 tbsp - onion paste (fried)
  • 8 - green cardamoms (choti elaichi)
  • 4 - black cardamoms (badi elaichi)
  • 2 tsp - turmeric (haldi) powder
  • 1 or 2 tsp - chilli powder - (dissolved in 1 cup water)
  • 4 - cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp - ginger powder
  • 1 tsp - black cumin seeds (shah jeera)
  • 2 tsp - dry mint
  • garlic water

How to Make Sizzling Tamatar Paneer

  • Fry the paneer till golden brown. Drop into a bowl of cold water when done.
  • Leave in the water for about 10 mins. Then discard the water.
  • In a pan, add the tomato puree, garlic water, green cardamoms, black cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, turmeric powder, ginger powder, onion paste, ghee and red chilli water.
  • Cook till the mixture is of a sauce-like consistency with the ghee separating from the sauce.
  • Add the fried paneer. Cook until well blended with the sauce.
  • Add the dry mint, black cumin seeds and cook for another 5-10 mins.
