  • 1 - tender, medium-sized, Snake Gourd
  • 2-3 - medium-sized Potatoes
  • 2 - green chillies
  • 3 - Cloves of garlic
  • 2 - Shallots
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • rice powder

How to Make Snake Gourd Cutlets

  • Scrape the snake gourd and cut it in to halves/quarters.
  • Remove the seeds.
  • Meanwhile, boil the potatoes
  • Heat a bit of oil in a pan. Add chopped shallots and crushed garlic.
  • Fry till onions are soft.
  • Mash the potatoes. Add the shallot mixture, crushed green chillies, turmeric and salt to taste.
  • Stuff the snake gourd with the potato mixture.
  • Cut the stuffed snake gourd in 1/2 cm thick circles.
  • Stick the potato mixture to the inner sides of the circle if it tends to come out.
  • Coat with rice powder and shallow fry in a bit of oil.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney.
