Ingredients

  • chicken joints - 500 gm
  • water 1 litre
  • tomato - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 2 tsp
  • oil - 3 tbsp
  • onion - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
  • garlic - 1 tsp, minced
  • ginger - 1 tsp, minced

How to Make South Indian Chicken Soup

  • Combine the chicken joints with water, tomato, salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil and simmer till the chicken is cooked.
  • Strain and reserve the stock. Cool the chicken pieces and shred the meat.
  • Mix turmeric and coriander powder with vinegar.
  • Heat the oil and fry onion, garlic and ginger till fragrant.
  • Add the paste and fry for few seconds.
  • Add the stock and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
  • Add the chicken meat. Add salt and pepper if needed.
  • Simmer for 5 more minutes and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with a table spoon of cooked rice in each bowl.
