Ingredients

  • 450 gms - Spaghetti
  • 100 gms - Onions
  • 2 flakes
  • For the meatballs:
  • 450 gms - Lean Meat
  • 100 gms - White bread
  • 450 gms - Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp - Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Parsley (chopped)
  • 85 gms - Cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • How to Make Spaghetti with Meatballs:

    1. Soak bread in water.
    2. Squeeze dry and mash with fork.
    3. Add finely chopped onions, chopped parsley, minced meat, grated cheese and seasoning.
    4. Beat eggs lightly and combine with mixture.
    5. Shape into small balls and fry in hot oil.
    6. Drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
    7. To make the sauce:
    8. Heat oil in a heavy pan. Add chopped onions and crushed garlic and cook till golden.
    9. Add blanched and pipped tomatoes, sugar, thyme, salt and pepper. Lower heat.
    10. Cover and cook slowly for one hour.
    11. Add meat balls and cook gently for another 3 mins.
    12. Boil spaghetti in boiling salted water.
    13. Drain and dish into a hot plate.
    14. Pour sauce with meat balls over spaghetti.
    15. Serve a bowl of grated cheese separately.
