Ingredients

  • 1 cup - cooked rice
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal
  • 5 or 6 - curry leaves
  • 4 tbsp - chopped onions
  • 1 tsp - Chilli powder
  • 1 pinch - turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 3 - 4 tbsp - crushed tomato
  • salt to taste

How to Make Special Tomato Rice

  • Add oil to a non-stick pan.
  • When hot (not smoking) add mustard, urad, onions and curry leaves.
  • When the onions are cooked, add tomatoes, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Cook until a raw smell from the tomatoes disappears.
  • Now add the cooked rice and stir.
  • Serve hot with some yogurt or chips.
