  • 250 ml - Tomato Puree
  • Thick Milk of half a Coconut (about 150 ml)
  • Seasoning:
  • 2 Pinches - Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - Whole Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Spices:
  • 1 tsp - Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • A chunk of Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as per the requirement
  • How to Make Special Tomato Saar:

    1. Heat some oil in a deep vessel.
    2. Season the oil with asafoetida and the mustard seeds.
    3. When the mustard seeds begin to crackle, add cumin seeds and the turmeric powder.
    4. Now, immediately add the puree before the turmeric powder burns out.
    5. Keep the mixture on a medium flame.
    6. Now add the coconut milk, cumin powder, jaggery and lastly add the chilli powder.
    7. Serve hot with plain rice or jeera rice.
