Ingredients

  • Onion - 2
  • Tomatoes - 4 or Crushed tomatoes - 3 cups
  • Toor dhal boiled - 3/4 cup
  • To grind:
  • Cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli - 3 to 4
  • Coconut - 2 tsp
  • Cashew nuts - 10
  • For seasoning:
  • Mustard
  • Curry leaves

How to Make Special Tomato Sambar

  • Season the curry leaves and mustard.
  • Then fry onion till golden brown.
  • Add tomatoes and fry for 3 mins.
  • Then add the ground mixture and fry for 5 mins.
  • Finally, add the mashed tuvar dal and required amount of water for sambhar.
  • Let it boil for 3-4 mins.
  • Serve hot.
